We are closed for submissions.
Issue 03 is currently on hold while the editor takes care of some personal matters.
If you have not received a reply regarding your submission, please be patient or simply email us your retraction. Thanks for your understanding.
Lung seeks previously unpublished poetry that invokes emotion but avoids the trappings of mediocrity. We cater to fresh, innovative voices that have something original to say. We avoid didactic, esoteric or highly abstract material.
We prefer you to show, not tell, and do so with concrete words we can understand. We enjoy the unexpected married to sensory language. We find strength in simplicity. If it is unique and jumps off the page, we want it.
Lung acquires first-time publication rights to selected poetry. We also reserve the right to republish in future electronic and/or print anthologies. Back issues are archived indefinitely. Rights return to the author after publication. We do require the author to acknowledge Lung as the original place of birth if re-published elsewhere.
Please email 1-3 poems in the body of an email to info@lungpoetry.com. No attachments. Please include a brief bio. Write "Submission - Last Name" in the subject line. Do not include your age anywhere in the submission. Please allow 3-6 weeks for a response, however we usually respond sooner. Simultaneous submissions are accepted but please notify us if accepted elsewhere.
Prose poetry and flash-fiction is welcome if under 250 words. We are a small, independent poetry journal and do not pay contributors at this time. Lung will participate in Pushcart nominations and will always promote our contributors whenever possible.
